INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts today claimed offensive guard Zane Taylor off waivers from Philadelphia and waived offensive guard Matt Murphy.
Taylor, 6-2, 309 pounds, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets on July 28, 2011. He spent training camp with the Jets, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. Taylor was then signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad on September 28, 2011. He was released and then signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad on November 23, 2011 where he spent the remainder of the season.
Taylor was a three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection as an offensive lineman at Utah and earned first-team honors as a senior. He started 38 games at center over his last three seasons. Taylor also earned academic all-conference honors on four occasions.
Murphy was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 28, 2011 where he remained for the rest of the regular season.
