INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts on Sunday announced the signing of seven players to their initial practice squad for the 2017 season.
Each player signed on Sunday had played with the Colts during the preseason:
• Wide receiver Fred Brown: Brown, 6-1, 196 pounds, was signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on June 15, 2017. He participated in the team's 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Brown played in 34 games at Mississippi State and totaled 50 receptions for 785 yards and five touchdowns.
• Tight end Henry Krieger-Coble: Krieger-Coble, 6-4, 248 pounds, was claimed by the Colts off waivers (from Denver) on July 30, 2017. He participated in the team's 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Krieger-Coble played in the final two games of the 2016 season with the Broncos and caught one pass for 13 yards. He spent the first 15 weeks on Denver's practice squad before being signed to the team's active roster on December 23. Collegiately, Krieger-Coble saw action in 46 games (14 starts) at Iowa from 2011-15 and totaled 42 receptions for 463 yards and four touchdowns.
• Guard Adam Redmond: Redmond, 6-6, 300 pounds, signed a reserve/future contract with Indianapolis on January 2, 2017. He participated in the team's 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Redmond spent most of the 2016 season on the Colts practice squad. He originally signed with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016. Collegiately, Redmond played in 31 games at Harvard.
• Inside linebacker Darnell Sankey: Sankey, 6-2, 250 pounds, was signed by the Colts as a free agent on August 23, 2017. He participated in the team's training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Sankey also spent time in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. He spent time on the practice squads of the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders as a rookie in 2016. Collegiately, Sankey played in 43 games at Sacramento State and compiled 330 tackles (124 solo), 27.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one interception and nine passes defensed. His 330 tackles ranked fourth in school history.
• Outside linebacker Garrett Sickels: Sickels, 6-4, 252 pounds, was signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017. He participated in the team's 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Sickels appeared in 39 games (24 starts) at Penn State and totaled 93 tackles (43 solo), 20.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
• Quarterback Phillip Walker: Walker, 5-11, 216 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017. He participated in the team's 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Walker started 47-of-49 games at Temple and finished as the school's all-time leader in passing attempts (1,410), completions (803), passing yards (10,273), touchdown passes (72) and total offense (11,100). He also totaled 342 carries for 763 yards and nine touchdowns.
• Safety Andrew Williamson: Williamson, 6-1, 209 pounds, was signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2016. He participated in the team's 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. As a rookie in 2016, Williamson spent the entire season on the Colts' Injured Reserve List. Collegiately, he played in 47 games (19 starts) at Vanderbilt and compiled 135 tackles (85 solo), 1.0 sack, 6.0 tackles for loss, eight passes defensed, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
The Colts now have three open practice squad spots remaining.
