INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, the Colts claimed defensive back Tyvis Powell off waivers (from Cleveland) and waived cornerback Reggie Porter.
Powell, 6-2, 211 pounds, played in eight games as a rookie in 2016 with the Seattle Seahawks and tallied three special teams tackles. He was waived by the Browns on June 9, 2017 after being claimed by the team off waivers (from Seattle) on February 6. Powell was waived by the Seahawks on January 4. He originally signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016 out of Ohio State.
Collegiately, Powell played in 42 games (33 starts) for the Buckeyes and totaled 195 tackles (112 solo), eight interceptions and 16 passes defensed.
Porter, 5-11, 185 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017. He participated in Indianapolis' three-day rookie mini-camp. Porter played in 36 games (22 starts) at Utah and compiled 91 tackles (67 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss, 18 passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
