INDIANAPOLIS – On Tuesday, October 21, the Indianapolis Colts hosted a group of 38 high school seniors from the medical and dental program at the J. Everett Light Career Center for an anatomy lesson they will not soon forget. Colts players and the Colts Head Athletic Trainer Hunter Smith joined students on a special tour of Bodies… The Exhibition. The temporary exhibit includes real human bodies presented in an educational manner that allows visitors to learn more about the complexity of the human body and its systems. Bodies… The Exhibition is presented by Premier Exhibitions, Inc. and located at Claypool Court across the street from Circle Centre Mall until December 14.
Colts LB Jordan Senn and RB Chad Simpson used their Tuesday away from practice to mingle with students and join in on the exploration of the exhibit. Smith was also on hand to answer any questions students had about sports injuries or future pursuits in athletic training.
BODIES… The Exhibition, which has appeared in cities across the world, including New York, London and Barcelona, features actual human specimens that have been preserved through a technique called polymer preservation. It is designed to allow visitors to learn more about their own bodies in an effort to encourage them to take better care of their health. Several pressing health issues are highlighted including obesity, breast cancer, colon cancer, arthritis and bone fractures.
Colts Community Tuesdays, sponsored by WISH TV, is a season-long outreach program in which players participate in various charitable activities every Tuesday of the season.
