INDIANAPOLIS –The Colts may be without the services of tight end Dwayne Allen Sunday against Miami.
The second-year player injured a hip last Sunday against Oakland and has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against Miami.
Tabbed as questionable on Friday, Chuck Pagano said Allen would be tested today for an upgraded opinion for his availability. Today, Allen's availability is not as clear.
Allen was one of a handful of 16-game starters last year, and his 45 receptions led all rookie tight ends. He had a 20-yard scoring reception last week against the Raiders, but missed a little more than a quarter after hurting his hip.
Coby Fleener likely will open should Allen not play. Behind Fleener is second-year pro Dominique Jones and rookie Jack Doyle. Fleener started 10-of-13 appearances last year, while Jones opened one-of-five outings. Doyle, and Indianapolis native, was claimed off waivers by the Colts this year after having signed with Tennessee as an undrafted free agent.
