Colts and Indians Host Book Drive for Indiana Foster
Youth
INDIANAPOLIS – For the second consecutive year, two of Indianapolis' sports teams are teaming up to hit a home run for Indiana youth. On Monday, June 15, the Indianapolis Colts and Indianapolis Indians will host a book drive for the Books for Youth initiative at Victory Field in Downtown Indianapolis. Prior to the start of the Indians game, Colts Cheerleaders will be on hand to sign autographs and collect new and gently used books. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the baseball game starts at 7:00 p.m.
Colts players will also be on hand that evening to host a special backpack distribution for a select group of Indiana foster youth. This distribution is made possible through a partnership between the Colts and the Indiana Department of Child Services. Through their Books for Youth program they are working to provide every foster child in Indiana with a personal backpack filled with 25 age-appropriate books. Since 2006, the Colts and DCS have collected more than 360,000 books for this statewide program.
The players will also participate in a special field visit with the foster children and will throw out an honorary first pitch to start the game.
The Colts would like to invite you to join them at Victory Field on Monday, June 15, to support the Books for Youth initiative and enjoy some Indians baseball! Be sure to bring a new or gently used book to donate prior to the start of the game!
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the game starting at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are just $13 for box seats and $9 for reserved, and may be purchased by visiting the Victory Field Box Office at 501 West Maryland Street, online at www.indyindians.com, or by calling Ticketmaster at (317) 239-5151.
