Chris Ballard has found at least a contributor, if not an impactful starter, on Day 3 of the NFL Draft in each of his eight years as the Colts' general manager. Those guys have come from big programs and small schools; they've been drafted because of freakish athleticism and/or solid collegiate tape.
It's an impressive list:
- 2017: RB Marlon Mack (4th round), DT Grover Stewart (4th round), LB Anthony Walker Jr. (5th round)
- 2018: RB Nyheim Hines (4th round), LB Zaire Franklin (7th round)
- 2019: S Khari Willis (4th round), LB E.J. Speed (5th round)
- 2020: C/G Danny Pinter (5th round), CB Isaiah Rodgers (6th round)
- 2021: TE Kylen Granson (4th round), G Will Fries (7th round)
- 2022: TE Drew Ogletree (6th round)
- 2023: CB Jaylon Jones (7th round)
- 2024: C Tanor Bortolini (4th round), LB Jaylon Carlies (5th round)
So we're taking our list from yesterday – which compiled the top 100 prospects as ranked by The Athletic's consensus big board – and looking at who's left on Day 3.
