2010 Bleed Blue Blood Drive

The 2010 Bleed Blue Blood Drive will take place on December 14 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Blood Center will kick off the 11th annual [Bleed Blue Blood Drive and Health Fair, presented by

, on Tuesday, December 14, at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Appointments are necessary to participate and slots are limited.

The first two time slots are already full. Visit www.colts.com/bleedblue to make an appointment.

Anyone who participates will receive a regulation-sized Colts football, featuring Colts defensive back

Melvin Bullitt.

Melvin Bullitt and other teammates will be on-site throughout the day, along with Colts cheerleaders and the mascot Blue, to sign autographs and meet the fans. Attendees will have access to the field at Lucas Oil Stadium to toss footballs, attempt field goals and for open play.

A Bleed Blue Fest on Lucas Oil Plaza will offer opportunities from Colts and Indiana Blood Center partners for free screenings and health information. Individuals not able to donate blood are still welcome to enjoy the health fair and other free festivities at the stadium that day.

Indiana Blood Center will continue the event December 15 to January 15 with Bleed Blue Blood Drive days at the nine donor centers statewide and on mobile blood drives. Dates for such drives will be announced on December 14 at the Bleed Blue kickoff event.

The 2010 Bleed Blue Blood Drive is made possible by the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Blood Center, CardioChek, ADVANTAGE Health, Novartis and WISH-TV.

When:

Tuesday, December 14, 2010, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where:

Lucas Oil Stadium. Parking will be free.

Why:

The annual, month-long Bleed Blue Blood Drive attracts more than 5,000 donors to Indiana Blood Center each December as the state's supply traditionally dwindles due to the hectic pace of the holidays. The Colts lend Indiana Blood Center their spotlight to attract donors, many of whom are donating for the first time and are introduced to the life-saving effort through Bleed Blue Blood Drive.
