Ingels is in his second season with the Colts as the team's assistant to the head coach. Prior to the NFL, he had 10 years of football operations experience at the collegiate level. Ingels provides assistance to Head Coach Shane Steichen by preparing the weekly practice plan, call sheets and scripts. He also helps with scout team preparation.
Prior to Indianapolis, Ingels served as the director of football operations at his alma mater, Wisconsin, for the last eight seasons (2015-22). He was responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the Badgers football program.
In 2014, Ingels was the director of football operations at the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked under former Wisconsin Head Coach Paul Chryst.
Prior to Pittsburgh, Ingels served as an offensive graduate assistant at North Carolina State in 2013, eventually earning the title of director of recruiting operations for the Wolfpack.
He spent two seasons (2011-12) with the San Francisco 49ers as an equipment intern.
From 2006-2010, Ingels was a student assistant at Wisconsin while pursuing his degree. He was the team's head offensive student manager for four of those seasons.
Ingels earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural business management from Wisconsin in 2011. He and his wife, Margaret, got married in 2019.
