Ortiz will serve as the offensive Dungy Fellow in 2024. He was a Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellow with the Colts during 2023 training camp, where he worked with the offense.
Ortiz spent the last seven seasons at Texas Tech in a variety of roles and most recently was a quality control assistant working primarily with the running backs (2019-23). In Lubbock, he worked three seasons (2019-21) with current Colts running backs coach DeAndre Smith, who served in the same capacity for the Red Raiders.
Ortiz previously served as a post-graduate intern – quality control & recruiting (2018) and recruiting/operations/football intern (2017) in Lubbock.
At Texas Tech, Ortiz earned two master's degrees in interdisciplinary studies (in May 2021 and May 2023). He also graduated with a master's degree in sport management from Texas Tech in May 2018, becoming the first person of Mexican nationality to graduate from the program.
Ortiz earned his bachelor's degree in international trade relations from Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico City, where he won the yearly "Letter of Merit" for obtaining the highest GPA of the class four years in a row.
Ortiz was a quarterback in the Mexican Major League with the Pumas Acatlán and was champion of the National Conference in 2013. He grew up playing football for Club Gamos, located south of Mexico City.
