Bratton enters his fourth season with the Colts as the team's offensive quality control coach – wide receivers. He has 12 years of coaching experience, including nine seasons at the collegiate level.
Since 2023, Indianapolis has scored at least 20 points in 25 games, which ranks tied for eighth in the NFL.
In 2024, the wide receivers were led by Josh Downs (72 receptions for 803 yards and five touchdowns), Michael Pittman Jr. (69 receptions for 808 yards and three touchdowns) and Alec Pierce (37 receptions for 824 yards and seven touchdowns). They were the first trio in the NFL since 2021 to each record 800 receiving yards in a single season. It marked the first time the Colts had three players eclipse 800 receiving yards in a single season since 2004 (Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokley and Reggie Wayne). Pierce led the NFL in average yards per reception (22.3), while registering career highs in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Bratton also worked with rookie Adonai Mitchell, whom the team selected in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. Mitchell played in all 17 games (seven starts) and compiled 23 receptions for 312 yards.
The Indianapolis offense finished in the top 10 in the NFL in points per game (23.3 – tied-10th) and rushing yards per game (121.1 – 10th) in 2023. Pittman Jr. had a career year as he tallied single-season career highs in receptions (109) and receiving yards (1,152) while also adding four touchdowns. He ranked fifth in the NFL in receptions. Pittman Jr. became the fourth Colts player all-time to have at least 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in a season (Dallas Clark, Harrison and Wayne).
Bratton helped tutor Downs, whom the team selected in the third round (79th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Downs appeared in all 17 games (nine starts) and compiled 68 receptions for 771 yards and two touchdowns. In team history, he finished first in receptions and fifth in receiving yards by a rookie. Downs ranked seventh in receptions and receiving yards among all rookies in 2023.
In 2022, Bratton primarily assisted with the wide receivers and position coach Reggie Wayne. The receiving corps totaled 224 receptions for 2,451 yards and 10 touchdowns. Pittman Jr. led the team with 99 receptions for 925 yards and four touchdowns. Parris Campbell established single-season career highs in receptions (63), receiving yards (623) and receiving touchdowns (three). Bratton also worked with Pierce, whom the team selected in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He finished his first season with 41 receptions for 593 yards and two touchdowns. Among NFL rookies, Pierce ranked in the top 10 in receptions (ninth), receiving yards (sixth) and receiving touchdowns (tied for seventh).
Bratton has also served as a wide receivers coach at the East-West Shrine Bowl (East Team – 2024) and the Senior Bowl (American Team – 2023).
Prior to Indianapolis, Bratton coached seven seasons at his alma mater, Furman. He served in a variety of roles for the Paladins, including passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach (2021), special teams coordinator/wide receivers coach (2016-20) and wide receivers coach (2015). From 2016-2019, he worked with wide receiver Thomas Gordon, who finished his career with 159 receptions for 2,552 yards and 11 touchdowns. Gordon's career receiving yards rank first in school history.
In 2018, Bratton helped Furman win a share of the SoCon championship and guided kicker Grayson Atkins to All-America honors after he converted 13-of-15 field goals (86.7 percent) and 48-of-50 extra points (96 percent).
Bratton participated in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Los Angeles Chargers (2019) and Baltimore Ravens (2017). In 2014, he was a guest wide receivers coach for the Chicago Bears during the offseason program and training camp.
Bratton began his coaching career as the wide receivers coach/special teams coordinator at North Greenville University from 2013-14.
Bratton played six seasons (2007-2012) in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes and caught 263 passes for 3,127 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was named the league's 2012 Tom Pate Award, which is similar to the NFL's Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Bratton won two Grey Cup championships (2009 and 2010) with the Alouettes.
Prior to the CFL, Bratton played for the Cologne Centurions (NFL Europe) in 2006. He also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens.
As a player at Furman, Bratton compiled 131 receptions for 1,826 yards and 18 touchdowns from 2001-04. In 2001, he earned SoCon Freshman of the Year and All-America honors after leading the nation in kickoff return average (37.2), while returning three for touchdowns. He helped the Paladins win the SoCon championship in 2001 and 2004. Bratton also participated with the track & field team his last two years. He was inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.
Bratton is a native of Martinez, Ga. He is married to his wife, Ashley, and they have three children, Blaze, Brynlee and Breeze.
