SAN FRANCISCO --- Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri spent a day this week with Pat Tillman Foundation Scholarship winner Reagan Odhner, who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan before battling cancer. Vinatieri then surprised her with another prize...Super Bowl tickets.
"She's a superstar," Vinatieri told Good Morning America. "I just met her, and I love her."
Odhner enlisted out of high school and said the most rewarding part of her two tours in Afghanistan was teaching local government officials about women's rights. Shortly after serving overseas, she enrolled at Stanford but didn't realize she was suffering from Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Odhner said she's doing well now, well enough to spend the day with Vinatieri at the NFL Experience exhibit learning the finer points of kicking a football from the best kicker of all-time.
After a few field goals, Odhner and Vinatieri joined the live Good Morning America broadcast, where Vinatieri stunned Odhner with two Super Bowl 50 tickets.
"I've got family in the military as well," said Vinatieri to Odhner on the show. "We just wanted to thank you so much for your service and everything you've done for our country...We wanted to make sure you had an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl. Enjoy. Enjoy the game. Thank you so much for everything you've done for us."
