Indianapolis Colts Host Third Fan Fest Event in
Warsaw
Matt Ellis has dedicated his body to be a walking trophy from the Colts Superbowl XLI Championship. He has twenty two tattoos of Colts players who were on the Superbowl XLI Championship team, and one of Superbowl XLI Champion coach Tony Dungy. Ellis is proud of his tattoos, and sees them as a way to show his loyalty to the team.
"I do it because the team 'makes it personal' for the fans, so I want to make it personal for the team," said Ellis.
Last year at Colts Training Camp, Ellis was able to collect eleven signatures. Once Ellis gets the autograph, he goes home and has the signature tattooed on his skin so he can have a lasting memory of meeting a Superbowl Champion.
The first signature Ellis had tattooed is of Colts punter Hunter Smith. Ellis met Smith at a Wizard's game in May of 2007, and had his skin autographed since he was lacking any Colts paraphernalia to have Smith sign. Ellis then decided to have the signature tattooed so he could remember his encounter with Smith forever.
In August, Ellis will be attending Colts Training Camp in Terre Haute. He is still searching for nine signatures, and he hopes to get most of them at Training Camp this year. Ellis plans his vacation time around Colts Training Camp, and takes his family down to enjoy watching to team prepare for the season.
"I love Training Camp," said Ellis. "It really changed my life. The energy and the spirit of the event is so amazing."
The Indianapolis Colts will be hosting their fourth Fan Fest of the summer on Tuesday, June 30th, in Jasper, Indiana, at Jasper's City Square from 5 PM – 8 PM.
