Colts Kicker Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS – This past Sunday, Adam Vinatieri converted a memorable kick that helped keep the Colts in the AFC playoff chase, and he did it against his former team.

On Wednesday, Vinatieri was honored for the effort.

Vinatieri, a 13-year veteran kicker, on Sunday kicked a 52-yard field goal with 8:05 remaining in an 18-15 victory over the New England Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis. On Wednesday, Vinatieri was named the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week.

Vinatieri, who has kicked nine field goals of 50 yards or more in his career, hadn't kicked one in the regular season from further than 50 yards since 2002, when he kicked a career-long 57-yarder for the Patriots. He kicked two from 50-plus yards during the Colts run to the Super Bowl XLI title following the 2006 season.
