ADAM VINATIERI NAMED AFC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri has been named AFC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week, the NFL announced today. Vinatieri hit all three field goal attempts, including a 47-yarder, in the Colts' 23-17 victory last Sunday against Cincinnati, helping the Colts improve to 6-3 and move into first place in the AFC South. Vinatieri (355) surpassed Eddie Murray (352) for 11th-most FGs made in NFL history, and he also became the 12th kicker to surpass 1,600 career kicking points. Vinatieri ranks 3rd in the NFL this season among kickers with 78 points, hitting 17-of-19 field goals and 27-27 PATs.
It marks Vinatieri's 11th career AFC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honor, his third since joining the Colts in 2006. Vinatieri also has been named AFC Special Teams Player-of-the-Month three times in his 15-year career.
