Tony Dungy Wednesday quotes

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the third day of camp) Training Camp “Good day all the way around.  I thought we had a good practice, good work, and got a special treat. One of my buddies (Mel Blount) is here.  So, it was a fun day for me.

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the third day of camp) Training Camp

"Good day all the way around.  I thought we had a good practice, good work, and got a special treat. One of my buddies (Mel Blount) is here.  So, it was a fun day for me.  But all in all, another pleasing day, just the way we are working, just the way we are going about things.  No complaints at all."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the visit from his friend Mel Blount) Training Camp

"Mel just came, wanted to see practice and see the facility and so I said, 'If you're going to be in the area I'd love for you to talk to the guys.'  I really had him talk about not necessarily going back to back, which they did a couple of times, but really more about what it takes to stay at the top, to be the best at your position for 14 years, how to do that, how important practice is, and he said all the things probably that I've been saying it just was a little more impressively done."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the number of guys sitting out at practice) Training Camp

"We had a lot of one-a-day guys that I think would rather practice in the cool of the evening than the heat of the day.  So, we've got a lot of things going on tonight: two-minute drill, nine-on-seven, inside running, and different things.  So we did have a majority of guys going in the afternoon.  Nothing new on the injuries.  We really came out of yesterday in pretty good shape."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the young Defensive Backs) Training Camp

"[They are] Picking things up really well.  We had some plays made on the ball, guys in the right spot. They are learning. So far, so good."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on WR Roy Hall) Training Camp

"We're really finding out things that Roy can do.  I have a feeling he's going to be an excellent special teams player.  We've got him doing some things on the coverage units as a gunner and a kick-off coverage guy. We are looking at him in the slot.  He might be a Marcus Pollard-type guy.  I don't know what Marcus looked like when he first got here, probably very similar.  We are working him basically on the outside on Reggie's [Wayne] side.  We are still finding out exactly, what he's going to be able to do."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the late practice) Training Camp

"We do it for a couple of reasons.  Number one, to kind of spread things out, to give our players a break from the heat, and give them a little more rest during the day, which is good for us.  Number two, we do it to allow our fans who work a chance to come out and see the team on a couple of evenings.  It's always a great atmosphere.  It's a little different with the lights, kind of high school-type excitement and our guys like it.  I think the fans like it and we're looking forward to a big crowd."
