HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (opening comments)
"After looking at the tape and pondering on things, it really was a good win for us, one of those perfect storm kinds of things where everything just came together right. I thought we did play fast and played with a lot of energy. Our special teams and defense played with the speed that we hope to exhibit all of the time. Offensively, we moved the ball very well and probably didn't finish some drives as well as our guys would like. But we had good execution for the most part. We did a lot of the things that we wanted to do. We made some mistakes that in a real tight game will come back to haunt you and we have to work to correct those, but we went in and played with the playoff energy that you need. Now our task is going to be forget that one, put it out of our mind and try to duplicate that effort on the road against a really, really tough team. So, it's going to be a fun week. I think our guys are looking forward to it."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on turning on the playoff switch and if it was just emotion)
"No, I think we played better. It was emotion and energy and using the home crowd and the noise and all of those things that you do at home. And we've been good at home, but we played better. We didn't have the breakdowns of someone being in the wrong place and then the ball going 25 yards because someone else missed the tackle. They had a couple of runs that got out and we were able to hold them to six or seven yards. Our third-down stops were better. We played a little bit more man coverage in third down than we normally do, and they dropped some balls, which helped us. If they have a third down, Dante Hall has one that he's going to catch and make a first down, and they get three more plays, those kinds of things definitely help and you have to have some of that. But I just thought we played better."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on how he guards against a let-down)
"You can't have that happen. Otherwise, you're going home. You have to really put this game behind you. Fortunately, we do have a normal week of work. We had the game against Cincinnati (Monday Night), then we had to travel on the short week. I think that kind of caught Kansas City a little bit yesterday. So we don't have that problem, but it's more of just putting it behind you and going and understanding it's going to be tough. Up until the last four times, we've been a pretty good road team here. That's one of the things we've been proud of. So we just have to get that back."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on turning it on for the playoffs and if he got the sense that with the success in the past, if the regular season may have gotten boring to the players)
"No, I had never felt that way all along, and if that's what we were doing, it wasn't good strategy. If we had played better, we wouldn't have been playing yesterday and we would be playing at home. So hopefully they weren't just waiting…We all know that in January, you're game has to pick up."
