HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER (on QB-Vince Young's development) * *

"We were very pleased with his work and his improvement through the offseason.  He was very committed throughout the offseason and I thought he did some real good things during the OTA sessions and throughout camp.  He did some good things certainly in the preseason.  I was especially impressed with his ability to handle the line of scrimmage last week in a tough environment, getting in and out of things and checking things.  He has a much better understanding of the position and what's expected and required of him as far as winning ballgames."

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER (on Vince Young and some guys being 'winners')

"We saw it a number of times last year.  We had lost five straight games before we got on the win streak and Vince had started just the two games, his first start against the Cowboys and his second game was against the Colts up there and then the third game he got on a streak.  So yes, he found some ways to win ballgames, and he did that the other day in the two-minute drive.  He didn't necessarily do it with his arm.  He just threw one ball to keep a drive alive, but he had very good command over the line of scrimmage and was very confident and understood what it took."

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER (on if he has had a stronger commitment to the running game over the last year or so)

"We have always believed that.  We feel like it's important.  The good thing that we're going through right now is we have a solid offensive line that returns the starters.  They've worked well together and they know we're committed to it and they work hard at it.  And we have backs that enjoy carrying the football.  We feel like the run game is important, as is stopping the run.  It's always been kind of a staple for us."

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER (on as a member of the Competition Committee, how concerned is he and the committee about the allegations against New England)

"At this point, they are just allegations.  I obviously have not seen anything, have not had any discussion with anybody at the league office.  So, we're going to let the league office and the commissioner handle this.  If these allegations are in fact true, then my opinion would be no different that anybody else in the league and that would be one of disappointment and concern.  And then we would need to have the assurance that this thing be dealt with appropriately, and I think we need to emphasize the provisions such that this type of thing doesn't happen again."

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER (on if he has ever suspected that another team or New England specifically was doing something against his team)

"At this point, I don't think it's fair for me to comment on my own personal opinions or suspicions.  But again, I think it's in the league's hands and we'll let the league office take care of it."

HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER (on if the gap has closed in the AFC South)

"Well, I think we'll have to wait and see.  It's hard to determine that now.  The Colts, they had such a strong finish last year and a great playoff run with the championship.  Just their first game, it appears that they have improved.  When you have the team that's at the top of the division continuing to improve, there's going to be separation.  But we all work year-round, around the clock to try to get better.  So I think this season will express that for you.  It's very early right now for us to tell."
