This season, cornerback Rashaan Melvin is playing a starring role on the Colts defense. A team player, he'll do whatever it takes to get his team a win. And that's true off the field as well.
Earlier this week, he posted a picture to his Instagram account with the caption: "Batman & Robin had a Great time at the Colts Kids Club Halloween Party. I don't mind being his sidekick!! #savetheworld."
"Me and my lovely son were having a great time at the Colts Kids Club Halloween Party on Tuesday," he said. "He likes Batman and I just wanted to be a sidekick."
But it's the uniform he puts on to go to work on Sunday that makes him a superhero to three-year-old R.J. every day.
"He gets to see dad every weekend on the football field and he loves going to Lucas Oil Stadium," he said. "And the opportunity for me to play football with him on the field, he loved it."
While his dad signed autographs for fans, R.J. played games and collected treats at the stations set up on the field.
"It was an amazing time for both of us," Melvin said. "It was a wonderful crowd, wonderful fans. Just a wonderful time and a great event put on by the Colts."
He was dressed as Robin on Tuesday night.
But he's Superdad to R.J. every day.
And to Melvin, that's the most important job of all.
