The Indianapolis Colts today claimed linebacker Jermaine Grace off waivers (from Atlanta) and waived inside linebacker Darnell Sankey. The team also signed outside linebacker Josh Perry to the practice squad.
Grace, 6-1, 223 pounds, played in five games with the Falcons this season before being waived on November 14. He originally signed with Atlanta as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2017.
Collegiately, Grace saw action in 37 games (10 starts) at Miami (Fla.) and totaled 147 tackles (84 solo), 12.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, six passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. In 2015, he started 10-of-13 games for the Hurricanes and led the team with 79 tackles (44 solo) while adding 6.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, five passes defensed and one forced fumble.
Sankey, 6-2, 250 pounds, was most recently elevated to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on October 9. He has played in six games for Indianapolis this season. Sankey has also spent time on the team's practice squad this year. He spent time on the practice squads of the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders as a rookie in 2016.
Perry, 6-4, 253 pounds, has spent time on Indianapolis' active roster and practice squad this season. He was elevated to the team's 53-man roster from the practice squad on October 27 and saw action in two games before being waived on November 14. Perry was signed to the Colts practice squad on September 18. As a rookie in 2016, he played in 15 games (one start) with the San Diego Chargers and totaled 17 tackles (six solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, one forced fumble and nine special teams stops. Perry was originally selected by the Chargers in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.
