QB-PEYTON MANNING (on more reps in this Saturday's game) Training Camp

"You realize you are going to have to share playing time and it's important for other guys to get a chance to play, our young guys and some guys playing different positions. Coaches are making evaluations. That is what the preseason is about, at the same time using training camp, using the games to get the starters ready to play. I feel like we are doing that so far."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on being back to a normal training camp schedule) Training Camp

"This week for the most part we are going against ourselves, which I really like to do. Once you get in season you are going against the service team or the scout team. You're still competing, but they're on the cards and guys really aren't themselves, they're trying to be the Tennessee Titans. I like training camp because we're going against the Colts (defense) and you're getting full speed. You don't know what you are going to get and it's truly treating practice like a game out there. This is where you really get better and get your timing down. As soon as they say we are going to work against Chicago or work against the cards I kind of get a frown on my face. It's not quite as much fun as going against your own guys. It's good to be back to full speed. That Japan trip did alter our schedule last week, which we handled the right way to get physically rested. Now we can get back to a normal week of training camp."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on the emergence of WR-Reggie Wayne last season) Training Camp

"The fact that he and WR-Marvin (Harrison) are on the same team – Marvin has been so established and has gotten better and better every year if you can believe it – that has affected Reggie's stardom maybe nationally. If you asked the teams we played last year about Reggie Wayne, you are going to have some corners not have so many pleasant memories guarding Reggie Wayne. He certainly should have been a Pro Bowler last year. I guess that's where he got affected by having another great player on the same roster. I know (Steelers WR-) Hines Ward caught four touchdowns, I think Reggie had 12, 80 catches, 1,300 yards. That's as good of a year as anybody's. He's excited about improving on that year. Really in all facets of his game he plays at a top level. From the big plays and great catches, the fourth and four, the back catches, he's one of our best blockers, and his runs after the catch, he had an awesome year and plan on being better this year."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on if he needs to play in the preseason and how much playing team he needs) Training Camp

"Yeah, it's kind of a feel thing. The Atlanta game the first drive felt good. Last week we only got three plays and you don't like to get sacked, but I kind of like to get hit. It was a pretty good shot by (Takeo) Spikes. You kind of hope to get that out of the way. You like for a lot of things to happen. You'd love to get one of every situation. You'd love to get a good drive to start a series. You'd love to get a little red zone work. You'd love to take a few shots, believe it or not. Ideally, you'd like to get a goal line, a two-minute drill if you can. It seems like we are always able to get all that in somewhere along the way. I think coach does a great job of spreading the playing time out. Play this much this game and this much that game to get a little bit of all of those situations. I don't care how old you are, I think you need to get in there and play. I like being out. I want to play a good bit more on (Saturday) because it is a different feel somewhat for me. You have a different surface and you want to get out there and play on it."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on what's most important the number of plays or the situations) Training Camp

"I kind of like the situations. If you can go 10 plays and get a goal line, a short yardage and a couple of third downs that might be all you want to get out of that game and that's good. With five games and the playing time spread out, I think we can get the different situations that we'll like to get."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on the situations being different in the game than in practice) Training Camp

"I think we do a good job of it. When he (Head Coach Tony Dungy) tells those guys to get off the sideline and backing the coaches up, that is like a game. That's one thing we do around here we do treat practice like a game. So, no, it is the same. When you get stopped on a third and one out here, you leave the field. Some coaches say go back and do it again and that's when it doesn't feel like a game, but I hate it when he tells us to leave the field. That's how it is in a game. It lets you know there are no second chances. I just like that it is a different opponent. Certainly there are other factors that come in to it, referees are out there and it is game conditions."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on how much he likes to get hit) Training Camp

"A couple of times, I don't want to get extensive about it. (Takeo) Spikes packs a little more punch. A good veteran player like that, an All-Pro like him, that's at least three or four tackles right there in one."
