Colts Open, Close 2010 Preseason Schedule at Lucas Oil Stadium

The NFL announced its 2010 preseason schedule on Wednesday, and the Colts will open their schedule as they did last preseason. . . at home inside Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.

The Colts will close the preseason at home, too.

And in between, the Colts will travel to Toronto to face the Buffalo Bills.

And they will be featured in a nationally-televised game on ESPN at Green Bay in their third preseason outing.

The Colts will open the preseason with a 1 p.m. home game against San Francisco on Sunday, August 15. It will mark the first time the two teams have met in preseason play. The Colts defeated the 49ers, 18-14, last November, after a Joseph Addai 22-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne on the first play of the fourth quarter provided the game-winning points.

Four days following their home opener, the Colts will travel to Toronto for the first time in franchise history to face the Bills on Thursday, August 19, at 7:30 p.m. The Colts and Bills have faced off in three of the past six preseasons, with their last preseason matchup in 2008 representing the first NFL game in Lucas Oil Stadium.

An 8 p.m., nationally-televised game on ESPN at Green Bay on Thursday, August 26 will close out the road portion of the Colts' preseason schedule. The Colts last played Green Bay in the preseason in 1996, while the Colts have won five of seven games against the Packers in preseason play.

The Colts will return to Indianapolis and close out the 2010 preseason against Cincinnati at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 2. The Colts have played the Bengals the past nine preseasons, with eight of those games closing the preseason. Overall, Cincinnati has won 12 of the 18 preseason matchups between the two teams.

The 2010 preseason will begin at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, as Cincinnati will play Dallas in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

The 2010 regular season schedule has not yet been announced and is expected to be released in April.
