QB-PEYTON MANNING(on how much he will play this week at Denver) 12/29/04
"I'm good with whatever (Head) Coach (Tony) Dungy wants to do. He said he wants to go up there and play to get a win, and that's all he kind of told us today. He didn't give us a lot of details or anything else like that. He just said we're going to have a normal week of practice as far as preparation and go up there and play and try to get a win. He makes the calls and I'm all for it."
QB-PEYTON MANNING(on if possibly playing Denverin consecutive weeks changes their approach) 12/29/04
"There are still a number of different scenarios. Obviously, we know we're going to be playing a playoff game here at home, but it's still one of five opponents. I've just learned you can't look down the road that far, even though we are close to the playoffs and the goal every year is to try be playing your best football in the months of December and January. The Broncos are the last team on the regular season schedule. We want to go out there and play well and try to get a win and try to keep some momentum going. So, it's the old 'one game at a time' concept. That's the way we have to treat it."
QB-PEYTON MANNING(on under Head Coach Tony Dungy, they always play their best football in the last months of the season) 12/29/04
"I think Coach Dungy tries to set the schedule up that way. He sets training camp up that way and tries to use judgment on when to go in pads, when not to go in pads. He's always talked about gearing it up that way. We want to come hot out of the blocks playing at a high level, but the idea is to try to keep getting better each week. And for the most part, we have. There are still some things we need to improve on. Our penalties have increased the past couple of weeks. We want to improve on that. The idea is to keep winning games and try to be hot in these last two months and hopefully, stay hot."
QB-PEYTON MANNING(on if there is a sense of urgency, keeping the momentum going into the playoffs) 12/29/04
"I think that's what (Head) Coach (Tony) Dungy has talked about: Just keep winning. Try to keep getting better is what we talk about. We feel like if you get better, hopefully a win should follow along with that. We have four days of practice here to try to get better and have another opportunity to play against an excellent team, and then try to improve. That's really the idea behind this week, and hopefully that will lead into the game and it can carry over in trying to get a victory."
QB-PEYTON MANNING(on the red zone play the last two weeks) 12/29/04
"It's something, obviously, you want to improve on. You want to be better in the red zone. You want to be able to finish drives, eliminate the penalties, eliminate the turnovers and not have to settle for field goals, try to get more touchdowns. So, it's something we do want to improve on. We've been good for the most part this year, but we definitely can be better than we were on Sunday. That's for sure."
QB-PEYTON MANNING(on how nice it would be for RB-Edgerrin James to win the rushing title) 12/29/04
"I sure would love for him to have that. I know he's a little bit behind right now, but it would be great. He's won it twice. He's had an outstanding year. What he's done for us in the run game and in pass protection has been phenomenal. And he's made some critical catches, probably none bigger than the one on 3rd-and-15 (against San Diego) on that tight spiral fade pass I threw to him over the middle of the field. He's just made some huge plays at some critical times. It would be nice for him to have that, but certainly on the team, everybody here knows what kind of year he's had. He's the best back out there in my opinion."
QB-PEYTON MANNING(on if he can appreciate having a 120 passer rating) 12/29/04
"I've been happy about the way we've played offensively for the most part this year. The credit goes to a lot of people. I feel like I've done my part, for the most part. But the receivers have been catching the ball well. Protection has been solid. Edgerrin (James) is having a great year. All of that kind of goes in to that."
