Fans Can Bid on RCA Dome Memorabilia at
www.buythedome.com
INDIANAPOLIS - The Colts and the Indiana SCorporation are making 25 years worth of memories available to fans.
And they're making it available as easily – and to as many people – as possible.
The Indiana Sports Corporation and the Colts have partnered to make memorabilia from the RCA Dome available for purchase at www.buythedome.com, with an on-line live auction beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 10.
Proceeds from the sale of Dome memorabilia will go to the Indianapolis Colts Foundation – which benefits Indiana charities – and the Indiana Sports Corporation, a local not-for-profit organization.
"We have something for everyone in this auction," Colts Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tom Zupancic said Monday. "We're offering fans of not only the Colts, but fans of all of the sports that have been held in the RCA Dome and the Hoosier Dome, to get a piece of that."
The last NFL game in the RCA Dome was held this past January. The Colts are scheduled to begin playing in state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis beginning next season.
"This place holds such amazing sports memories," Indiana Sports Corporation President Susan Williams said. "The RCA Dome gave us an opportunity to grow amateur sports in Indianapolis, and therefore brand this city as an amazing place to live, work, have a family and play.
"We're excited that fans will be able to take a little bit of this memory with them as we move on to our next phase in the city's sports history."
For the past 10 days, season ticket-holders have been able to purchase their seats. Beginning at 2 p.m. Monday, "generic" sets of two seasons are available online for $395.
Other items available for purchase online include: turf plaques ($60), 10-, 20-, 30- and 40-yard line markers ($1,000), striped-yard line turf pieces ($125), roof plaques ($60), rubber-dirt turf vials ($10), aisle signs ($125) and turnstiles ($250).
Items currently available for auction include:
• Several player lockers ($2,000 starting bid).
• Midfield helmet logo-turf ($10,000 starting bid).
• Blue turf segment from end zone ($100 starting bid).
• Locker room urinal ($500 starting bid).
Items will be available for auction for a week or less, with new auctions scheduled to begin each Monday, said MainGate President and CEO Dave Moroknek.
"We expect a very high volume of traffic," said Moroknek, whose organization will facilitate the process.
Zupancic said he expects 57-60 player lockers to be available in the coming weeks and months, and he said he expects items to be purchased by Colts fans nationwide and worldwide.
"I think we're making available to the general public a lot of different options and a lot of affordable options, as well," Zupancic said. "By utilizing the web, we're giving people in California who are maybe transplanted from Indiana an opportunity to own a little piece of the memorabilia. We think it's going to be a nationwide project, because there are an awful lot of Colts fans out there."
