Meet Leanna: Cheerleader of the Week

Hey 12th man! My name is Leanna, and I’m ecstatic to be your cheerleader of the week!

How about that Colts win over the Titans? I don't know about you, but I'm still feeling the effects of a sweet victory!

Born and raised in Indiana, I grew up loving all of Indiana's pro sports, especially my beloved Colts, and I knew at a young age that I wanted to be a Sweetheart of the Horseshoe. In my three seasons as a Colts Cheerleader, I've had many unforgettable experiences. Performing at the 2015 NFL Draft in Chicago, sky diving with my teammates for the Canopies for Kids foundation, and cheering on our boys in blue during the Colts vs. Chiefs Wild Card Game are just a few countless memories that I'll never forget. I can't wait to see where this season takes us. With the potential and determination that our Colts have, the sky's the limit! Go Colts!

I currently work in the behavioral and mental health field as a School Based Social Worker. Although my job can be very challenging, having the power to make a difference in the lives of my client's and their families is the most rewarding experience. Faith, family, and friends are what I value most in life, and I'd like to use this platform to express my gratitude for the people and the organizations that have impacted my life most. First and foremost, I thank God. Next, I thank my parents and family, my church family, my friends, my Dance By Deborah family, all staff and students at Nicholson Elementary School, Wabash Valley Alliance, Purdue University, and my CC sisters. Thank you all for your ongoing love and support! I love you all and I am truly grateful for your presence in my life!

What was your most memorable game day experience?
One of my most memorable game day experiences was Peyton Manning's return to Indy for the Colts vs. Broncos game in 2013. The energy in the stadium was unforgettable and I remember having mixed emotions. I was practically raised a Colts fan, so naturally; I was a Peyton Manning fan as well. I'll admit it was a little odd seeing him on the visitors' sidelines and rooting against him, but at the same time, it was such an adrenaline rush to get the victory!

How do you spend Colts away games when you aren't cheering?
I'm always cheering! If I'm not cheering from the sidelines, I'm usually cheering from home. I enjoy watching the games with my parents, my Grandpappy, and my cousin because we all really get into the game. We always have a good time cheering on the colts and yelling at the TV from the comfort of home!

What is the hardest challenge you've had to overcome as a Colts Cheerleader?
Time management. It's hard to balance my full time career as a Social Worker with my obligations as a professional cheerleader. As a seasoned vet, I've gotten better at it, but it's an area that I'm constantly working to improve.

What fall TV shows do you plan on getting into?
This fall I'll be hooked on Empire, Scandal, and The Bachelor!

Tell us something most people don't know about you!
Most people don't know about my passion for helping people with mental illness and special needs. Growing up, I watched my older brother battle mental illness. I experienced first-hand, the turmoil that is placed upon a family when a member suffers from mental and behavioral health disorders. My personal experiences and my passion for helping others has led me to a career in which I get to help kids with mental and behavioral health disorders and their families.
