What an exciting week it has been along with the past 4 years as a Sweetheart of the Horseshoe! It has been an experience dancing in a Super Bowl music video, travelling to Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Rico, and Curacao on a military tour. I've been honored to be the Cover Girl of the 2014-2015 Swimsuit Calendar as well as a 2-time Fantasy Football Champion. I'm looking forward to my 5th year as an Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader, meeting more fans, and helping out in the community!
My family and I are from the Philippines, although I was born in Michigan and raised in Ohio. My family was part of the Air Force, which my father retired at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. My first experience cheerleading started in Jr. High, when my sister was a senior in high school and I was in 7th grade. Needless to say since then, it has been a wonderful journey that has led me to where I am today. Without my family and friends, I wouldn't be here. They are my backbone, support system, and I'd like to thank them for their endless support, love, and help through my journey. I love you and may God bless you all!
It's been almost three years since you had your head shaved by Blue at the end of the third quarter for Cancer Research in honor of Coach! What was the most rewarding part of that experience?
It has been an amazing journey within the 3 years of having my head shaved in honor of Coach! The organization has raised a large amount of money to cancer research but the most rewarding part of the experience has been raising awareness of cancer and listening to stories from the community of how they or a loved one has been affected. I've been able to share my battle with leukemia with many individuals during these 3 years and it's something to not be afraid of but to know that you're not fighting alone. You never know what battle someone is fighting and a simple act of kindness can go a long way.
What is your favorite animal?
My favorite animal is an elephant! I have an elephant phone case, 2 stuffed animals, jewelry, and I have to see the elephants whenever I visit the zoo. They are beautiful animals that have human-like characteristics. On my bucket-list is to ride an elephant. I hope to do that when the opportunity comes up!
The Colts play their first preseason home game against the Chicago Bears this week. What do you look forward to most about this game?
I'm most excited for the thrill of Lucas Oil Stadium - the game day experience! Doing what I love, while supporting the best team in the NFL is what I look forward to the most. From early morning practice to events before the game, to hearing the national anthem play, is all an experience that can't be duplicated. Dancing to the fight song every time we score a touchdown is so exhilarating, I can't help but to give it my all. The fans come alive on 3rd down defense and seeing the image of blue and white is what Colts nation is all about, to come together as one family.
The last movie you saw in theaters was…
The last movie I saw in theaters was The Equalizer with Denzel Washington. Denzel is my favorite actor so I enjoy watching his movies and the character he portraits.
The Colts Jr. Cheerleaders will be performing a routine at this Saturday's game. As a Junior Cheer Instructor, what do your responsibilities include?
As a Junior Cheer Instructor, my responsibilities include having the girls learn the routine, getting them prepared for their next performance, and to have fun! Instructors practice once a month with the Jr. Cheerleaders so we do our best to answer any questions and to get the girls excited for their first game on Saturday! I'll be with Squad 7 so be on the lookout for myself and my girls!
