Colts Quarterback Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS – Peyton Manning last Thursday continued a remarkable late-season run, and in the process, the Colts clinched a seventh consecutive postseason appearance.

On Wednesday, Manning was honored for the effort.

Manning, the Colts' nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback, on Wednesday was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week.

It is his third such honor this season and the 19th of his 11-year NFL career.

Manning earlier this season won Player of the Week honors when he threw three touchdown passes in a 31-3 victory over Baltimore and when he threw for two touchdowns and 320 yards in a 33-27 victory over the Houston Texans.

It marked the sixth time a Colts player has earned AFC Player of the Week honors this season, with middle linebacker Gary Brackett being named AFC Defensive Player of the Week following a victory at Houston in October and defensive end Robert Mathis being named AFC Defensive Player of the Week following a victory over Cleveland in November.

Kicker Adam Vinatieri was the AFC's Special Teams Player of the Week following a November victory over New England.

Manning this past Thursday completed 29 of 34 passes for 364 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for a season-high passer rating of 140.7 in a 31-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The Colts rallied from a 14-0 deficit in the game.

Manning completed his first 17 passes in the game, and combined with six consecutive completions at the end of a victory over Detroit the previous week, he completed 23 consecutive passes, the second-longest such streak in NFL history.

It was the Colts' eighth consecutive victory and with it, they clinched the No. 5 seed in the AFC postseason.

Manning has thrown 16 touchdown passes with three interceptions during the Colts' eight-game winning streak. For the season, he has completed 364 of 548 passes for 2,568 yards and 17 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

Manning has received the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week award at least once in 10 of his 11 NFL seasons, with the lone exception being 2002.

This is the fifth time he has received the honor multiple times in a season.

Also, Manning has been nominated for FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week honors for games played Week 16. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Friday. The winner will be announced Friday afternoon on NFL.com.
