Peyton Manning Named Finalist for Player-of-the-Week
Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning has been named a finalist for FedEx Air NFL Player-of-the-Week honors, the NFL announced on Tuesday. Fans can vote for winners on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday through noon (ET) on Friday to determine the Players-of-the-Week.
Manning completed 25 of 38 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions for a 108.1 rating Sunday night in the Colts 27-24 victory at Washington. The win improved the Colts to 4-2 and moved them into a three-way tie for first place in the AFC South.
Sunday night's win was the club's 10th consecutive prime-time win dating back to 2008. Manning recorded his 60th career 300-plus-yard game, the third-most in NFL history. Manning's 57-yard touchdown strike to Pierre Garcon in the first quarter gave the Colts an early 7-0 lead, and his five-yard pass to Austin Collie in the second quarter gave the Colts a 14-7 lead, one they wouldn't relinquish. The Colts' offensive performance marked the 12th time in franchise history the Colts have rushed for 170-plus yards and thrown for 300-plus yards.
The winners will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com. New this year, fans will be able to keep tabs on the achievements of their favorite Air & Ground players (and others) with the NFL Milestone Tracker, presented by FedEx.
Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program, FedEx continues its support of Safe Kids USA by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players' names. The funding, allocated to local Safe Kids coalitions in that team's city, is used for pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year, from upgraded crosswalks and safety signs to traffic barriers and educational training.
Also nominated for Air Player-of-the-Week honors were Philadelphia's Kevin Kolb and Houston's Matt Schaub.
