Peyton Manning Named Finalist for Player-of-the-Week Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning has been named a finalist for FedEx Air NFL Player-of-the-Week honors, the NFL announced on Tuesday. Fans can vote for winners on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday through noon (ET) on Friday to determine the Players-of-the-Week.
Manning completed 25 of 35 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions for a 118.6 rating last Thursday night in the Colts' 30-28 victory at division rival Tennessee. The win improved the Colts to 7-6 heading into Sunday's game against AFC South foe Jacksonville. Jacksonville leads the AFC South with an 8-5 record.
Manning last Thursday recorded his 63rd career 300-plus-yard game, tying Dan Marino's NFL record. Manning also extended his own NFL records with his 11th career 4,000-plus-yard season and his 13th consecutive 25-plus-touchdown season.
The winners will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com. New this year, fans will be able to keep tabs on the achievements of their favorite Air & Ground players (and others) with the NFL Milestone Tracker, presented by FedEx.
Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program, FedEx continues its support of Safe Kids USA by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players' names. The funding, allocated to local Safe Kids coalitions in that team's city, is used for pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year, from upgraded crosswalks and safety signs to traffic barriers and educational training.
Also nominated for Air Player-of-the-Week honors were New England's Tom Brady and San Francisco's Alex Smith.
