HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On having CB Marlin Jackson back) Thursday
"He's been real diligent in terms of his rehab and preparation and is really moving along well. He certainly has exceeded expectations at this point. He's performing extremely well and doing a great job in terms of leadership. He's one of those guys that has a great work habit, work ethic and his habits are excellent in all phases of the game in preparation and certainly dealing with injuries. He's working hard to come back as fast as he possibly can."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On the improvement of WR Anthony Gonzalez) Thursday
"The amazing thing about him is he's improved every single year. We he first came he had great credentials and he as able to definitely prove he could play for us in his first year and play well and consistently. The following year he just keeps escalating. He's climbing in terms of what he's able to do out on the field and the understanding of the game. He works at it. He's one of those guys who comes early and stays late. Those guys are just like a gym rat and they tend to get better and find ways to get better."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On WR Anthony Gonzalez being more comfortable this year) Thursday
"I don't think there's any question about it. He has a real good sense of our system. He has a real sense of his surroundings and there's no guess work. He's the kind of guy that doesn't like surprises. I think he functions a lot better in a familiar atmosphere."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On the differences fans will see on the defensive side of the ball this year) Thursday
"From a schematic standpoint we are the same. Our terminology is the same. We'll just have a couple of wrinkles here and there that maybe we'll use utilize a guy's ability a little differently from time to time. Overall you probably won't see much difference at all. We have the same system and that was part of the plan. Larry (Coyer) came from Tampa. Tampa ran basically the same system that we run here and the same terminology. I think that works well and suits well for what we plan to do with our defensive structure."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On bringing LB Freddy Keiaho back) Thursday
"He provides some great leadership for us. He understands our concept defensively extremely well. He'll do a tremendous job for us and provide a lot of depth. He's a guy that plays multiple positions so he really gives us some insurance in case we have some problems during the course of the year."

"Right now we're in pretty good shape. We just need to continue to get better and continue to work the guys that we have and hopefully things will stay that way."
