HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On if the prognosis of WR-Anthony Gonzalez is available) Friday* *
"We haven't quite gotten that yet. I would assume within the next couple of days we'll have it."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On any update on DB-Bob Sanders) Friday
"There will be a determination made on him pretty quickly. That will be within the next 24-hours. It'll be pretty fast. He's going to have to have something done."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On not having DB-Bob Sanders and WR-Anthony Gonzalez) Friday
"They both are fine football players, great leaders and members of our team. You also look at the scenario of having them for the added bonus. The thing about it though we've had young people step up and do a great job in their absence. We'll continue on that path."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On seeing three wide receiver sets with the Texans on Sunday) Friday
"That's a possibility. The other thing is they could look at a situation where they feel (Joel) Dreessen and (Anthony) Hill can adequately do the two tight end formation. It just depends on how they go about it. Also, they have to look and see who they consider the best guys to put on the field at one time. We anticipate seeing some three wideout sets as well."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On the necessary adjustments due to injuries) Friday
"That's kind of the way it is in this league. Situations occur and sometimes you have to be called upon to do just a little bit more than you ordinarily do for a game. This one will be no different. I think we are well equipped to handle it."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On the situation at cornerback with the injuries and the fourth cornerback) Friday
"Don't forget about TJ (Rushing). He gives us our forth guy and that's what we typically go into a ball game with. That's our rotation. That gives us what we need in that regard. He's a guy who understands our system. He's been around and can play. We feel good about that."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On who has emerged at 'Sam' linebacker) Friday
"Looks like Philip (Wheeler) will be the guy. He will start at that position at this point. Don't etch that in stone, but that is the way it is today."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On if LB-Freddy Keiaho can play all three linebacker positions) Friday
"He can play all three of them. He's very capable. He certainly can."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On losing DB-Marlin Jackson at this point in the season) Friday
"He's a warrior. He is an extremely dedicated guy. He loves the game of football. He gives it everything that he's got. Whatever you ask him, he does. For him to work that hard and have a setback is really tough. We all feel for him."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On DBs Jerraud Powers and Jacob Lacey) Friday
"Jerraud (Powers) acts as if he's been here on this earth before. He is just wise beyond his years in terms of the way in which he acts and functions. (Jacob) Lacey still has a bit of playfulness in him, yet, he is still determined. Like most good defensive backs, I think you have to be a little bit of a riverboat gambler with a short memory. I think he does possess that."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On what makes the two-minute offense work so well) Friday
"We have some very smart guys on our offense that are able to adjust. They play with a lot of poise in pressure situations. They can make adjustments on the run. We work at it. When you see that someone does a phase of their operation pretty well it's because they spend time on it. I believe in the old adage 'you achieve what you emphasize'. We emphasize it. We work on different scenarios. That has always been the case. We've been able to function I think reasonably well in some very adverse situations. There's a sense among the guys that if we have enough time, we can get in position to score, whether it's a field goal or a touchdown. There's Peyton (Manning) in terms of his knowledge, but I think everybody on offense has to be in tune with how we conserve time and what our goals and aims are as well."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On what he believes the huddle is like in the two-minute offense) Friday
"I would say it is calm, very confident, but yet it's a sense of purpose."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On DE-Josh Thomas) Friday
"He has always been real good at stopping the run. He has good balance and strength. He knows our system. He's been able to do it in previous years coming back at short notice and being able to be a factor in a ball game quickly."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On the mindset of DB-Bob Sanders) Friday
"It's not an easy thing with having to go through as much extensive rehab as he has gone through. He's a very tough minded individual. He is very capable of working his way through all those setbacks."
