INDIANAPOLIS — Jacoby Brissett's career day against the Houston Texans has resulted in some league-wide recognition.

The National Football League announced today that Brissett has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Indianapolis Colts' Week 7 victory over the Texans. It's the first time in Brissett's career he's won the award.

Brissett was on fire last Sunday in the Colts' 30-23 home divisional victory, as he set career-highs with 326 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and a 126.7 passer rating. He had six passing plays of 20 or more yards, while two others went for 19 yards.

Brissett, in all, completed 26-of-39 passing attempts (67 percent) to eight different receivers, and he was sacked just once. Among AFC quarterbacks in Week 7, Brissett had the second most completions, the third most passing attempts, the second most passing yards, the most passing touchdowns and the highest passer rating.

"Jacoby played lights out," Colts head coach Frank Reich told reporters after the game. "We said if we're gonna win this game, we're gonna have to come up big in the pass game. We talked about that last night as an offense that we needed to make plays in the pass game to win this game, and we did that. And Jacoby led the way."

Brissett led the way in clutch situations, too, as the Colts (4-2) converted half of their attempts on third down (8-of-16) and scored touchdowns on all four trips inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Brissett leads the entire NFL with 13 red zone passing touchdowns on the year.

"I think it is just the players," Brissett said Tuesday when asked about the team's success in those scenarios. "I think the coaches are doing a good job of putting us in great situations on first and second downs that lead to manageable third downs and the red zone. The mindset that we go into the game with – the plan is clear. So that makes us play faster."

For his efforts, Brissett is also up for the Week 7 FedEx Air Player of the Week award; fans are encouraged to vote for him as much as possible by clicking here.

Brissett becomes the second Colts player to earn a weekly NFL award this season; he joins defensive end Justin Houston, who was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Indy's Week 5 road win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brissett is also the ninth Colts quarterback to earn AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. He joins:
