HEAD COACH JACK DEL RIO (on David Garrard as starting QB)

"I think David has done a great job of growing within our system here.  He's had some experience over the last several years.  Coupled with the new quarterbacks coach (Mike Shula), he has done an outstanding job working with him in cleaning up some of the fundamentals and giving him some confidence in his reads.  He's really taken his game to another level and done a great job for us."

HEAD COACH JACK DEL RIO (on David Garrard's evolvement as a quarterback)

"I think the biggest thing is that this is his first real opportunity to be 'the guy.'  He is our trigger man, he is our starting quarterback there is nobody else challenging him it is his job.  It's his opportunity to make the most of it and he's done a great job.  I think the best thing about the whole situation is the fact that he's remained a very humble young man who continues to work hard, do all the right things, being a great teammate and doing everything he can to help us win games."

HEAD COACH JACK DEL RIO (on David Garrard's likeability by his teammates)

"It has to help.  We're all human beings so certainly it helps.  First and foremost, they have to produce.  It's hard to lead if you're not producing yourself.  Obviously when your quarterback is producing well it's easier for the team to take the lead.  If he's producing well and he's a good guy, all the more will the team have a reason to rally around a guy like that."

HEAD COACH JACK DEL RIO (on the importance of being more consistent in their play)

"I think it really is about consistency, and having played for Tony (Dungy), I know he feels the same way.   As big as this game is this week and as talented and elite as the Colts are, this game is not about them for us.  It's really about us.  It's about us preparing hard and going out and competing with poise and discipline and going out as a mature football team that's ready to just go out and compete at a high level and just play our best football.  I think when we focus on that and when we focus our energies on preparing hard and being respectful and humble and going out and competing hard, I think good things can happen for us."

HEAD COACH JACK DEL RIO (on how the team is responding to the emphasis on consistency)

"They have, and when you know you've got it going is when you've got veteran leadership kind of carrying the torch, so to speak, in the locker room for you.  And I know we have that.  Several of the veterans have been with me going into the fifth year and they understand the things that I believe in and what we're going to do, and they embrace that.  I do feel like with the early season start we've had, it's been a much more focused, consistent approach to a process and I think we just want to stay true to that process."
