Date of mock draft:March 12 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The Colts are rebuilding their defense this offseason, so why not start with the draft's best defensive end prospect? Chubb is a sure-thing prospect who gives the Colts a player to build around up front."

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Plenty of options here for the Colts, but they stay the course and pick the best outside-rusher in this class to bolster a front seven that desperately needs production on the edge."——————————Expert:Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "I think the Colts will likely trade down. If they are stuck at No. 3, they will have a tough decision between Saquon Barkley and Chubb. When you add in the thinking of the second-round pick, you would lean toward Chubb because this is a strong running back draft and a good running back is definitely going to get to Indianapolis' second-round pick. The dropoff from Barkley to those players is not gigantic. That is not the case with an edge rusher, however. If the Colts take Barkley, there is a massive dropoff in talent for the edge-rushing and front seven players in Round 2. For example, the Colts would get more talent and a better tandem of picks with Bradley Chubb and Derrius Guice or Kerryon Johnson, versus Saquon Barkley and Harold Landry or Duke Ejiofor. Indianapolis needs an edge defender who can be the building block for its defense and a potential franchise defensive player. Chubb could fit that for the Colts. Chubb totaled 73 tackles with 25 for a loss, 10 sacks, three forced fumbles and two passes batted in 2017. He was awesome against Florida State, making some huge plays to lead N.C. State to a road upset with two sacks, a forced fumble and seven tackles. Chubb dominated the competition in 2017, playing like a top-10 pick. The 6-foot-4, 269-pound Chubb has scheme flexibility and has been a tough defender for the Wolfpack. He has good quickness for a big defensive end and has shown the ability to get off blocks with his strength and hand usage. Chubb has developed some variety in pass-rushing moves and looks like an asset as a future three-down starter in the NFL. In 2016, he totaled 58 tackles with 22 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one pass batted. As a sophomore in 2015, Chubb collected 5.5 sacks."——————————Expert: R.J. Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Another pick I'm sticking with. Chubb is a dominant pass-rusher, and one of the two or three best players in this draft regardless of position. He'll give new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus his Demarcus Lawrence to build the front seven around."

Expert: Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

Date of mock draft: March 8 (link)

Selection: Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State (Zierlein has the Colts trading the No. 3-overall pick to the Cleveland Browns, and picking at No. 4 overall)

Analysis: "If The Colts get a big offer, I'm sure they would move further back in the first round. In this scenario, the Colts could move back one spot and still get Chubb. However, trading back again could be in the cards for the Colts as the board shakes out and GM Chris Ballard looks to stockpile draft picks."

Date of mock draft:March 8 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Indianapolis has some nice edge rushers in Jabaal Sheard and John Simon, but neither is the elite talent Bradley Chubb happens to be. With Saquon Barkley off the board, Chubb is one of the two best players available. The Colts don't need a safety (Minkah Fitzpatrick), and it might be too early to select a guard (Quenton Nelson), so Chubb makes the most sense at No. 3 overall. Chubb steadily moved up my mock drafts during the season. At 6-4, 275, Chubb has a great blend of size and speed, and he's been dominant this season. There's some talk that Chubb is viewed as the top defensive prospect in NFL circles."

Date of mock draft:March 7 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "It's not a great year to need a pass rusher, unless you're the Colts, who get to pick the most complete prospect in the class. Chubb's frame and skill set are a perfect fit for their new scheme, and his nasty playing style will set the right tone for the next regime."——————————Expert: Todd McShay, ESPN

Selection: Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Like the Giants, the big question will be if Indianapolis gets a worthwhile offer to move down from a QB-needy team. If that call doesn't come, then I believe this pick comes down to Chubb or Nelson. With so many holes on this team, including edge rusher, Chubb makes the most sense. He played his way into a top-10 pick this season at NC State and solidified it with a strong combine workout. A high-motor guy, he has good talent and is a very complete player. A plug-and-play starter."

——————————Expert: Matt Miller, Bleacher Report

Date of mock draft: March 6 (link)

Selection: Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "This is almost too good to be true for fans of the Indianapolis Colts. A team with a massive need for a pass-rusher lands the best in the class and a truly special player in Bradley Chubb. My first comparison was Joey Bosa, and after a very strong combine he did little to change that opinion. Chubb is an ideal fit coming off the right side of the Colts defense. He's a big man (6'4", 269 lbs) with excellent agility and use of his 34-inch arms. In a 4-3 base defense, Chubb will be the wrecking ball new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus needs to dominate."

Date of mock draft:March 6 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Everybody else in the AFC South has a quality pass rush and the Colts can address their needs off the edge by picking the best defensive lineman in the draft. While protecting Andrew Luck is going to be a priority in this draft, so is grabbing the best player available for a team that needs all the help they can get on defense."

Date of mock draft: March 6 (link)

Selection: Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The Colts must address the pass rush."

——————————Expert:Steve Palazzolo, Pro Football Focus

Date of mock draft:March 6 (link)

Selection:Maurice Hurst, defensive tackle, Michigan

Analysis: "Hurst was diagnosed with an undisclosed heart condition at the NFL Combine, but he maintains top status among defensive players on our draft board until more information is revealed. Hurst's three-year production is the best in the class and he led all interior defensive linemen with a 92.2 pass-rush grade and also led with a 93.5 grade against the run. He's an explosive, interior disruptor and a perfect fit for a Colts front-seven in need of talent."

——————————Expert:Eric Galko, Sporting News

Date of mock draft:March 5 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The Colts desperately need a defense changing pass-rusher like Chubb, the best non-quarterback in the draft. He can be their new leader on defense."——————————Expert:Peter Schrager, NFL.com

Date of mock draft:March 1 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The three spot could be a hot commodity, considering QB is not a need for the Colts. Chubb is viewed as this draft's top defensive player."——————————Expert:Chad Reuter, NFL.com

Date of mock draft:Feb. 27 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The Colts finished second-to-last in the league last year with 25 sacks. Chubb is also strong vs. the run, making him the top defensive player in the draft."——————————Expert: Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN

Date of mock draft: Feb. 21 (link; requires ESPN Insider access)

Selection: Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "No change with the Colts, who don't need a quarterback and can grab the draft's best pass-rusher. They ranked 31st in the NFL in sacks (25) last season. Chubb had 46.5 tackles for loss over the past two seasons. New defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus came over from Dallas, where Rod Marinelli and the Cowboys ran a 4-3 defense. Chubb is a great fit in a 4-3 as an edge rusher."——————————Expert:Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated/MMQB

Date of mock draft:Feb. 21 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Chubb might be the safest pick in the draft (though that can be the kiss of death, ask Aaron Curry), and he fulfills Chris Ballard's desire to get more athletically imposing at a premium position."——————————Expert:Charles Davis, NFL.com

Date of mock draft:Feb. 20 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The best edge rusher in the draft. Chubb will provide the Colts their best pressure since the days of Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis."——————————Expert:Dion Caputi, National Football Post

Date of mock draft:Feb. 19 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Though Indy's rush offense was poor in 2017 its defense ranked 30th in yards (conceded) per game 31st in sacks and Chubb is consistently dominant. This running back class may be the best in history – fry that fish later."**——————————

Expert: **Charley Casserly, NFL.com

Date of mock draft:Feb. 13 (link)

Selection:Saquon Barkley, running back, Penn State

Analysis: "Andrew Luck gets a dominant runner."——————————Expert:Josh Norris, Rotoworld

Date of mock draft:Feb. 12 (link)

Selection:Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "The Colts have a number of non-guaranteed contract decisions to make on the defensive side of the ball. The goal of this pick is to find a prospect who creates big plays. Saquon Barkley does that on offense, and Jim Irsay insinuated he'd be in favor of this pick, but the perceived best edge rusher in the country would be ideal as well."——————————Expert: Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Date of mock draft: Jan. 30 (link)

Selection: Bradley Chubb, defensive end, North Carolina State

Analysis: "Rugged defender with a power-based game that overwhelms blockers on the edge."
