HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the Texans' offense and how the improvement on the offensive line has helped QB-Matt Schaub) Wednesday, * *
"The two games, they've been ahead almost the whole 120 minutes, so that certainly helps you. But even in the preseason, you saw Matt Schaub delivering the ball on time, getting it to players and knowing where the check-downs were. They've done a good job, not only with the protection, but the quarterback managing the game."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on what area the Texans have shown the most improvement) Wednesday, September 19, 2007
"I think defensively. They just look very solid to me. They're playing without a lot of gimmicks. They're knocking balls loose. You see people dropping balls against them. They've just been very sound and very physical."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on how important it is to get pressure on QB-Matt Schaub) Wednesday,
"I think the biggest thing for us will be not to fall behind early. We had the turnover early in the game. We let them score their first drive, and all of a sudden, they were up and in control of things. And that's what has happened in these two games. They got down 14-0, but it happened real fast against Carolina. By the middle of the second quarter, they were back in control and they played the second half ahead. So, we'd like to make them play from behind if we could."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if the red zone offense and protection are points of emphasis this week) Wednesday, September 19, 2007
"We've always taken a lot of pride in the red zone. We don't like to have to kick field goals. And we've been down there quite a bit. We had to kick some field goals, so that is something we are looking at, trying to emphasize, but no different than we always do. Protection is always an issue. We didn't pass protect as well as we'd like last week. These guys have an active front the same way. That's probably the best part of their defense. They have some number one draft choices up there that are really strong and athletic. We need to protect better than we did last week."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if WR-Andre Johnson doesn't play, what will that mean to the defensive gameplan) Wednesday, September 19, 2007
"I don't know. The way they play, obviously you hate to say that they're not going to miss Andre Johnson. He's a great player, so I'm sure they're going to miss him. I think he caught three balls against us last year, and they controlled the game without him. So, we can't think that they're going to play us any differently."
