HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if he thinks the defense will do anything different to try to rattle rookie QB-Alex Smith)
"Well, hopefully, we play our game and then you rattle whoever is in there. We have never really looked at it to try to do anything different because you have a first-year starter. We're not a team that does a whole lot of different things to try to confuse people. We just line up and play. So from that standpoint, we won't do anything differently. Hopefully, we can come hard. Hopefully we can shut down (Kevin) Barlow and Frank Gore and put them in a lot of long-yardage situations and make them throw. Hopefully we can get ahead and force them to throw. All of those things would be to our benefit, but we're not going to really change what we're going to do."

"We have a lot of speed and a lot of talent, and that part has always been there. What we're starting to do is understand what our job is and what we have to do to play smarter. We have some guys who can run and hit and strike as well as any that I've been around recently."
