HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the first full practice in preparation for Jacksonville)9/14/05
"I think our guys understand the importance of this game, the fact that the last time we played Jacksonville, they beat us. I think that has our attention, plus how Jacksonvillehas played in the preseason and on opening day."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the importance of a division game)9/14/05
"It's a much bigger game than a non-division game, because you have to control your division. You have to win it. Division records are the first tiebreakers. Division home games become critical."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on where Jacksonvillehas gotten better)9/14/05
"I think the quarterback (QB-Byron Leftwich) just gets better every time he plays. He's much more confident and relaxed it looks like than two years ago. They've drafted receivers. They're better at the skill positions, more physical. I think at the defensive positions they keep upgrading. They've changed both corners in the last couple of years. Getting (DE-Reggie) Haywardis obviously a big help to them. I think they're just piecing together a better team every year."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on WR-Jimmy Smith)9/14/05
"A tremendous receiver, a competitor. He has the great speed and acceleration out of the cuts. He catches the deep ball well. He's physically a tough guy. He just has what you look for in a receiver. And now he's at the point where he still has the physical skills, but he has a great deal of experience and he knows what he's doing out there. He's just one of the best receivers that's played in this era."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on finishing with over 800 catches)9/14/05
"I would have to imagine he'll get to 900. That wouldn't surprise me at all. You think of 900 catches in this league, and a lot of big plays. He's been a great receiver. He was in the AFC for a long time when I was in the NFC (at TampaBay), so we practiced against them. I really wouldn't see him that much in game action, but practicing against him, you get to appreciate how good he is."
