HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –logistics for Sundays game)

"We're getting close. We'll discus that a little bit later this evening actually."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –preparation for Sunday's game)

"We'll do a little bit, a limited version, particularly this morning. Sort of half and half of the work we did. Then this afternoon we'll focus on San Francisco a little bit more."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –looking at younger guys during game)

"We're not going to deviate much from what we've done. Unless it's like I mentioned before, there may be a couple situations where it's more out of necessity than by design, but other than that we're going to stay pretty closely to the list."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –scouting a preseason game)

"Obviously you have to look at past history, whether it's a personnel issue, if they've had a change in coaching staff, then you need to go back and look at where they came from, in terms of a systematic basis. For the most part we try to focus in on making certain that we're doing things the right way and adjust to your opponent. That's what the first game does for you. Then we have a game in the course of our four games where we prepare just like we would for our ball games so everybody gets a feel for the preparation, doing scouting reports and things of that nature, but this one is not quite as extensive."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –Curtis Painter's growth)

"I think one of the things is just the experience in itself. You get a little bit more familiar with things. Things aren't happening quite as fast. The verbage is a little bit easier to handle. I think his role changes significantly simply because of the fact that he's a smart guy, he works hard and the time that he's put in you'll start to see it pay off."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –what you're looking for from team Sunday)

"A big thing is we're looking for effort and execution. We have been focusing in more on their performance rather than results, in terms of the score board. Obviously we go out to win every single ball game, but I want them to focus in on their responsibilities, their duties. If we get that right and we take care of those little things, everything else will take care of itself."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –Jerry Hughes)

"Young guy, lots of potential and working hard."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –Raheem Brock signing with Titans)

"I haven't heard about it, but obviously he's a good man and a heck of a football player."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –looking at Nate Davis along with Curtis Painter)

"He's a playmaker. He did a lot of things well. He was a guy who could make plays in the pocket and outside of the pocket as well. One thing he's able to do consistently is his team's won, and they've won big and he's a great competitor."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –Nate Davis playing a lot Sunday)

"We're not quite certain what we're going to get in that regard. We certainly could without question. I know one thing is he's a very, very fine athlete. He throws the ball well. We'll try to prepare for a little bit of everything, but with time for limited preparation we can't prepare for every little situation."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –potential of defense)

"There is always room for improvement, there's no question about that. I do think we have a good group of guys that have talent. We have experience. We just have to keep getting better, but we certainly feel good about where we are, and we certainly feel good about our potential."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –How Kelvin Hayden and Deshea Townsend can mentor the younger guys)

"Overall I think you can even see in the meeting rooms those guys have certainly been through it and set an example in terms of how to prepare each and every day. They set a great example knowing how to take care of their bodies as well. That's an important thing during this time of the year, particularly that they're being stressed and challenged so much with the weather and obviously the frequency of practice as well. Those two guys do a tremendous job in sort of setting the pace for those young guys."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on –Deshea Townsend picking up defense)

"He's coming. When you've been around as long as he's been around, there haven't been too many things he hasn't seen. More so in his mind, he just has to flip a little bit of the verbage. He knows all the coverages."
