Head Coach Jim Caldwell

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on RB-Donald Brown saying that he will be practice today) Friday, October 29, 2010 “He’s certainly been nursing that injury for awhile now, and I think he’s got it to a point now where he can ramp up his activity a little bit, so we’re looking forward to that.

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on RB-Donald Brown saying that he will be practice today) Friday, October 29, 2010

"He's certainly been nursing that injury for awhile now, and I think he's got it to a point now where he can ramp up his activity a little bit, so we're looking forward to that."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on how sharp does he expect RB-Donald Brown to be) Friday, October 29, 2010

"It's one of those things where he stays sharp mentally, watching film, studying, preparing each week as if he was going to play. So from a mental standpoint, I think he'll be fine, and the physical part of it, obviously, that is what practice is for. Hopefully, we'll be able to just see him continue to progress, and he'll be in position to help us."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if he'll spot RB-Donald Brown or will he have a full load of carries) Friday, October 29, 2010

"It just depends on what level he is able to achieve during practice. We'll see how it goes. Certainly, it probably won't be a full bore sort of activity, but something that we will kind of monitor depending on where he is physically."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if he expects defenses to focus more on WR-Reggie Wayne) Friday, October 29, 2010

"I'm not sure what they'll do. That's a possibility, there's no question about it, but he gets quite a bit of attention as it is. It will be somewhat interesting to see how teams play, but for the most part, I think you'll see the teams that have been playing well, Houston particularly has been playing well, you won't see them deviate much from what they've been doing previously. I don't anticipate a wholesale change."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on WR-Reggie Wayne being a type of guy that would like the challenge of having defenses focus on him) Friday, October 29, 2010

"I don't think there is any question about that. He is a very highly competitive guy, and it's not the first time that's happened to him. You probably recall even last year when WR-Anthony (Gonzalez) went down, we had a couple of young guys playing that no one knew anything about and Reggie got quite a bit of attention during that time, but yet when you look at the end of the year in its entirety and his whole body of work, he was still able to get 100 catches. We'll see what happens in that regard."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if Houston's offense has as many weapons as any team in the NFL) Friday, October 29, 2010

"Yes, they do. They have a very strong nucleus. With (WR-Andre) Johnson on the outside, it's one of those situations where if you really start stacking against the run, which they do awfully well, they have a weapon outside that can certainly do some damage. He can catch it and run with it. WR-Jacoby Jones is the same way. He has great speed and ability. You look at their tight end corps, (TE-Joel) Dreessen is a very, very talented guy. They have a lot of weapons. (They have) an excellent running game."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on first goal being to win the AFC South) Friday, October 29, 2010

"It's your only guarantee of getting into the playoffs, so therefore that's always been goal number one."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on the AFC South having gone through the Colts the past few years) Friday, October 29, 2010

"Every year is different. We certainly don't hang our hat on the past. What we have to deal with is the here and now, and right now, we have a fight on our hands."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on RB-Mike Hart) Friday, October 29, 2010

"I think he is one of those guys that certainly has a sense of his abilities. He is very smart. He has good vision. He's been a very, very steady performer for us."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on Colts' President Bill Polian saying RB-Mike Hart is a finisher) Friday, October 29, 2010

"I think one of the things with him is you don't notice sometimes the work that he is getting accomplished. It may be a four-, five-yard run, but then you look down the road and he's strung quite a few of those together to get you into position to score. That's what he does very, very well. (He has) a low center of gravity, good balance and determination. He's a solid pass protector as well."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on some considering RB-Mike Hart to be too small) Friday, October 29, 2010

"He seems to overcome all the obstacles and all the labels that everybody puts on him and puts himself in position to help our team and does it a number of ways. He is also very valuable in terms of our special teams. He's played numerous positions and has played them very well."

HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on LB-Pat Angerer saying that he is making a lot of mistakes) Friday, October 29, 2010

"You see more good than bad, obviously, but he is one of those guys that is his own worst critic. You walk by the meeting room early in the morning, he's in there. After practice, he's in there. He's one of those guys that really takes a look at his performance. He studies, and he wants to be near perfect. That's what drives him."
