(on linebacker health) * *
"Gary (Brackett) is still getting worked on, constantly. He's getting better. It's just kind of a day-to-day thing. Clint (Session) did much better (yesterday). He made some progress, did some limited things yesterday. I felt good about that."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on DB-Kelvin Hayden's health)
"Kelvin is still nursing (his injury). We'll have the official word on it today, but he is still working at it. He's at a stage right now where he is better than expected."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on the possible loss of LB-Gary Brackett affecting the defense this week at Arizona)
"I'm not certain there is any perfect time for any setback. We kind of look at it, that we have people in place that can step in and do the job, and we expect them to do so. That's what we anticipate in this spot, as well. It's a team that does, indeed, throw the ball quite a bit, but they also run the ball very well. We're going to have to have a very good defensive performance in order to slow them down."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on the linebackers being interchangeable)
"There is quite a bit of versatility between that group. The Sam and Will are very similar positions. The Mike is unique unto itself, but we do have enough guys that can backup and play that position, as well."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on LB-Tyjuan Hagler)
"He has. He has played extremely, extremely well. He has been solid and consistent."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on LB-Freddy Keiaho)
"That's one thing about him, he is a guy that can play a number of positions and can play them well. That's a great thing about him. He is going to help us quite a bit in all areas, in terms of our linebacker corps. I don't think there is one spot that Murph (linebacker coach Mike Murphy) doesn't feel comfortable that he can play. He can play them all. Then, what he does for us in the kicking game, as well. He does give us a lot of flexibility."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on LB-Tyjuan Hagler and LB-Freddy Keiaho handling re-signing with the team late in the offseason)
"They are professionals. They understand the nature of the business. They don't take anything personally. They are very, very competitive, but they certainly knew how to handle the situation and come back and be very important and productive members of our team."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if DB-Marlin Jackson is ready to play a full game)
"I kind of like what he is doing right now. He doubled his snaps this past week. He increased the number (of defensive snaps) he played, but also, his added duties on special teams. We're just moving him a long at a comfortable pace, but he is doing well."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on WR-Pierre Garcon)
"He has (been very consistent). He's done real well in terms of run blocking. He's a real physical guy. He's limited the number of mistakes that he's had."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if WR-Hank Baskett will get more work on offense Sunday)
"If need be. He's a lot more game ready for us now. He did a little bit in our kicking game last week, just to get him out there and throw him into the fire on kickoff. He learned quite a bit of our offense, more third-down last week, but now, he has more of an all-encompassing view of it. Like I mentioned before, he is a guy that catches on quickly. It's been amazing how much he has learned in a short period of time. So, we could use him a little bit more, if need be."
