Colts Re-Sign Veteran Safety Matt Giordano
INDIANAPOLIS – Matt Giordano has been one of the Colts' most valuable backups and special teams players the past several seasons.
Now, he has re-signed with the team.
Giordano, a fourth-year veteran safety who became a restricted free agent after this past season, has re-signed with the Colts, the club announced on Friday. Duration and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Giordano, who has started five regular-season games and played 39 in three NFL seasons, has 52 tackles in three seasons, and has played a key role as a backup and special teams player. One of the fastest players on the team, he has three interceptions in three seasons, including two last season.
He returned his first interception this past season 83 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of a season-opening victory over New Orleans.
Giordano, originally a fourth-round selection from California in the 2005 NFL Draft, had four special teams tackles last year. He started four of 12 games played last season.
He had nine special teams tackles in 2006.
