After trailing early on in the game, the Colts came back strong in the second half to hold the lead until the end.**

Dwight Freeney came up with a crucial sack of quarterback Alex Smith on third down, forcing the 49ers to punt and extending the defensive end's streak of consecutive games with a sack to eight.**

On third-and-long and inside Indianapolis territory, the 49ers dropped back to attempt a pass only to have defensive end Robert Mathis sack quarterback Alex Smith and push them out of field goal range. The Colts called for a fair catch on San Francisco's punt and will take over from their own 10.**

Running back Joseph Addai threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Reggie Wayne to give the Colts their first touchdown of the game and a four-point lead. Addai took a handoff from quarterback Peyton Manning and ran to his left before cocking the ball back and unleashing a spiral to Wayne in the end zone.

The Colts kicked their third field goal with six seconds left in the second quarter to cut the 49ers' lead to five at the half. Quarterback Peyton Manning led the Colts on a 48-yard drive in just four plays and 32 seconds to set up the kick. **COLTS 9, 49ERS 14

The Niners moved quickly in their two-minute offense, covering 89 yards in just over a minute. San Francisco scored their second touchdown of the game on an eight-yard pass from quarterback Alex Smith to tight end Vernon Davis. **COLTS 6, 49ERS 14

Colts safety Bob Sanders came up with his first interception of the season when an errant Alex Smith pass ricocheted off San Francisco wide receiver Michael Crabtree's hands and into his. Sanders returned the ball 29 yards down the sideline to San Francisco's 34.**

After a few early miscues, the Colts offense put together a substantial drive and scored its first points of the game. Matt Stover converted a 38-yard field goal to put the Colts on the board and give him his first field goal as a Colt. **COLTS 3, 49ERS 7

San Francisco running back Frank Gore broke through the line of scrimmage and ran down the middle of the field for a 64-yard rushing touchdown. **COLTS 0, 49ERS 7

After forcing San Francisco three-and-out on the first possession of the game, the Colts failed to pick up a first down of their own on the ensuing possession. Punter Pat McAfee's punt sailed 60 yards and the Niners will take over from their own 30.
