COLTS SIGN ANGERER, THOMAS

The Indianapolis Colts have signed second-round draft choice LB-Pat Angerer and third-round draft pick DB-Kevin Thomas, the club announced Saturday.

Angerer (6-0, 235), a four-year letterman at Iowa, started 24 of 43 career games and had 258 tackles and six interceptions. Thomas (6-0, 192), was a one-year starter who opened 17 of 39 career games and had 89 career tackles, 59 solo, 4.5 tackles for losses, 3.0 sacks, two FF, one FR, 21 passes defensed and three interceptions.

Born: January 31, 1987

COLLEGE: Two-year starter who opened 24 of 43 career games…had 258 career tackles, 11.5 tackles for losses, two sacks, two FF, eight passes defensed and six interceptions…started 13 games at MLB as senior…had 145 tackles, five stops for losses, one sack, two FF, five passes defensed and one interception…was First-Team All-America choice by Football Writers Association of America and Football News and earned Second-Team honors from Associated Press and Walter Camp Football Foundation…was consensus First-Team All-Big Ten choice and one of five finalists for Bronko Nagurski Award…averaged 11.2 tackles per game, ranking second in Big Ten and fourth in NCAA…started 11 of 13 games as junior…was Second-Team All-Big Ten choice…had 107 tackles, 6.5 stops for losses, one sack, three passes defensed and five interceptions…appeared in four games as sophomore after shifting from WLB to MLB…had one tackle…saw action in 13 games at OLB as freshman…had five tackles…was redshirted in 2005…majored in health and sport studies.

COLLEGE: One-year starter who opened 17 of 39 career games…had 89 career tackles, 59 solo, 4.5 tackles for losses, 3.0 sacks, two FF, one FR, 21 passes defensed and three interceptions…started 13 games at CB as senior…had 57 tackles, 34 solo, one sack, two FF and team-best 11 passes defensed…was Second-Team All-Pac 10 choice…started two of 13 games as junior…had 15 tackles, 11 solo, two sacks, seven passes defensed and led team with three interceptions, including one for TD return…was part of unit that led nation in pass defense (134.4 yards per game) and scoring defense (9.0 points per game) and ranked second in total defense (221.8 yards per game)…redshirted in 2007 while recuperating from shoulder injury…opened two of four games as sophomore…had 10 tackles, nine solo, one FR and one pass defensed…saw action in nine games as freshman…had seven tackles, five solo, and two passes defensed…majored in social science economics.
