Colts Post Game Notes vs. New England

The Colts 35-34 comeback victory marked the franchise’s third comeback of 17+ points in the fourth quarter.  The Colts trailed Tampa Bay 14-35 on 10/6/03 and won in overtime 38-35.  The Colts trailed Houston 10-27 on 10/5/08 and won in regulation 31-27.

Indianapolis extended its franchise record with an 18th consecutive regular-season victory and became the 3rd team to earn a streak of 18 consecutive regular-season victories (21, New England, 2006-08; 18, New England, 2003-04; 17, Chicago, 1933-34).

Sunday's victory provided the Colts with their third 9-0 start in the past five seasons (13-0, 2005; 9-0, 2006).  The Colts own three of the six 9-0 starts in the NFL since 2004 (2007, New England Patriots; 2008, Tennessee Titans; 2009 New England Patriots).

The Colts won their 11th consecutive home game dating back to last season, tying the 2nd-longest streak in team history (12, 2006-07; 11, 2004-05).

Jim Caldwell became the first Colts head coach to win his first nine games.  Caldwell became the only rookie head coach in the Super Bowl era to start 9-0, and he became the only coach ever to start 98-0 when succeeding a head coach who won 100 games (Caldwell, Colts, 2009, succeeded Tony Dungy, 139 wins).

Jim Caldwell (9-0) surpassed Potsy Clark (Portsmouth, 1931, 8-0) for the best start by a rookie head coach in NFL history.

QB-Peyton Manning surpassed 350 career TD passes, tying Dan Marino (185 games) for the fastest pace to the mark.

Manning recorded his 10th 300 -yard game in his last 12 games.  Manning has eight 300 games in nine outings this season.

Manning has won 13 consecutive games when passing for 300 yards, tying Y.A. Tittle (13) for the third-most consecutive wins when reaching the 300-yard passing mark (16 consecutive, John Unitas, 1961-69; 14, Tom Brady, 2006-09).

Peyton Manning recorded his 19th career 4 -TD game, third in NFL history (21, Brett Favre; 21, Dan Marino).

Manning (301) became the first NFL quarterback with 300 touchdown passes in a decade (2000-09).

Manning surpassed Fran Tarkenton (125) for the 4th-most starting wins in NFL history with 126.

Manning recorded his 40th career fourth-quarter/OT game-winning drive, and his third in as many weeks.

Manning and WR-Reggie Wayne connected on their 58th and 59th career TD connections, surpassing Brett Favre and Antonio Freeman (57) for 6th-most TD connections by a duo in NFL history.  Manning and Marvin Harrison own the record with 112 TDs together.

Wayne recorded his 30th career 100 -yard game and his 11th career 10 -reception game. It marked his eighth career multiple-TD game.

TE-Dallas Clark tied the franchise record for career receptions by a tight end (320, John Mackey).

RB-Joseph Addai had a rushing and receiving TD for a second consecutive game, and the 5th time in his career.

DE-Robert Mathis recorded his 15th career multiple-sack game.  He recorded his 34th career forced fumble, 2nd-most since 2002 (36, Dwight Freeney).
