The New York Jets handed the Colts their first loss of the 2009 season this Sunday. FOURTH QUARTER (5:38 remaining)The Jets scored their third touchdown of the half on one-yard rush by running back Thomas Jones up the middle. The Colts stopped New York on the goal line on first and second down, but the Jets finally got enough of a push on their third attempt to punch it into the end zone. The Jets also converted their two-point conversion off a pass from Sanchez to wide receiver Braylon Edwards. COLTS 15, JETS 29 FOURTH QUARTER (5:38 remaining)The Jets scored their third touchdown of the half on one-yard rush by running back Thomas Jones up the middle. The Colts stopped New York on the goal line on first and second down, but the Jets finally got enough of a push on their third attempt to punch it into the end zone. COLTS 15, JETS 29 FOURTH QUARTER (13:23 remaining)The Colts defense came up with another critical stop, forcing the Jets to settle for their second field goal of the game. Jets kicker Jay Feely converted the 43-yard attempt.COLTS 15, JETS 21 END OF THIRD QUARTER – COLTS 15, JETS 18As the third quarter comes to a close, the Jets have taken the lead, 18-15. After scoring a touchdown on their first offensive possession of the half, the Colts took out several of their offensive starters on the next series, including Manning. The Jets scored two touchdowns in the period, one off a 106-yard kick-off return and one by a fumble recovery in the end zone.THIRD QUARTER (1:29 remaining)The Jets scored a defensive touchdown off a fumble by rookie quarterback Curtis Painter, who was sacked by Jets linebacker Calvin Pace. From there, the ball bounced into the end zone and was recovered by Jets defensive tackle Marques Douglas for the score. The sack forced New York to punt and the Colts will take over from their own 10. Rookie quarterback Curtis Painter will take over for Manning on the ensuing drive.THIRD QUARTER (10:13 remaining)The Colts responded to the Jets' third-quarter touchdown with one of their own, driving 81 yards in nine plays and scoring on a one-yard touchdown rush by running back Donald Brown. The rookie broke several tackles at the goal line before bouncing to the outside for the score. The play before, Brown rushed six yards up the middle to move the ball to the 1. On the drive, Manning threw first-down passes to Wayne, Clark and rookie wide receiver Austin Collie, who now has five catches for 88 yards.COLTS 15, JETS 10 THIRD QUARTER (14:48 remaining)The Jets started the second half with a 106-yard kick-off return for a touchdown by wide receiver Brad Smith. Indianapolis scored the only touchdown of the half on a 21-yard rushing TD by running back Joseph Addai in the first quarter. The Colts also scored on a 22-yard field goal by kicker Adam Vinatieri in his first game since returning from an injury. Quarterback Peyton Manning finishes the half having completed 10-of-17 passes for 131 yards. Addai has rushed six times for 40 yards.SECOND QUARTER (1:43 remaining)The Jets offense moved the ball into Indianapolis' red zone for the first time, but defensive end Dwight Freeney's second-down sack pushed New York back and forced them to settle for a field goal. Jets kicker Jay Feely's 35-yard attempt split the uprights.COLTS 9, JETS 3 SECOND QUARTER (6:22 remaining)Indianapolis moved the ball on offense, but was unable to put up another score. A third-down pass from Manning sailed just over the reach of tight end Dallas Clark. Punter Pat McAfee's kick bounced into the end zone and the Jets will take over from their own 20.SECOND QUARTER (11:46 remaining)The Colts put together their second scoring drive of the first half and kicker Adam Vinatieri's 22-yard field goal gives Indy a two-possession lead, 9-0. FIRST QUARTER (6:55 remaining)After an exchange of possessions, the Colts registered the first score of the game thanks to a 21-yard rushing touchdown by running back Joseph Addai, his 10th of the season. A 15-yard tripping penalty committed by the Jets on running back Donald Brown helped set up the score. The Colts defense forced the Jets three-and-out on their first possession of the game and punt returner T.J. Rushing returned Steve Weatherford's kick seven yards to Indy's 46.
FIRST QUARTER (12:03 remaining)The Colts won the toss, elected to receive and quickly got started on offense. Quarterback Peyton Manning connected with tight end Dallas Clark on an 18-yard pass on the second play of the game. But Indianapolis failed to pick up a first down on 3rd-and-2 and was forced to punt. Pat McAfee's 50-yard punt bounced on the Jets' 2 and was downed at the 5.
