Colts Long Snapper Matt Overton Wishes Combine Koozie Guy Luck

Matt Overton reached out to the Combine Koozie long snapper after hearing his story.

INDIANAPOLIS --- It can be hard out there for a long snapper, and fresh off signing his contract extension with the Colts Wednesday, Matt Overton wished the now famous NFL Combine koozie long snapper the best of luck.

In case you missed it, East Carolina long snapper Charlie Coggins was not invited to the Combine in Indianapolis but left drink koozies at a local bar where NFL scouts and such often go. It was a big hit on social media:

After signing his new contract, Overton had nothing but praise for Coggins.

"Kudos to that guy, because every year it seems to be a snapper or a kicker, punter, or specialist to do something kind of quirky and out there," said Overton. "This dude, mad props to him."

Overton went a step further though when he heard the cool story.

"He was actually in Indy. He travelled with some of his buddies to college. He wasn't invited to the Combine. So he came out here and made a name for himself and left the koozies in the bathrooms, all that kind of stuff," Overton said. "I reached out to him and said, 'That's cool, man. I wish you the best of luck,' because when I was in his position many years ago, I tried my very best to do whatever I could to get noticed."

So does Overton think the koozies will work?

"They'll always remember that guy. I'm sure a couple guys looked at his film," said Overton. "I think it's an opportunity."

Cheers.
