DCS Director, James Payne and foster families also plan on attending the launch. Come and be one of the first to purchase the limited-edition backpack, right in time for school! Each year, more than 10,000 youth across Indiana are a part of foster care at any given time. These children often have little to call their own as they transition into new homes with their respective foster families. Through their Books for Youth program, presented by Cargo Services, the Indianapolis Colts and DCS want to give every Indiana foster child a backpack filled with 25 age-appropriate books, a personal treasure the children can carry around and call their own.
Since the launch in 2006, the Books for Youth initiative has collected more than 360,000 new and gently used books and distributed nearly 5,000 backpacks. The "Buy One, Donate One" campaign is designed to continue this effort and give Colts fans the opportunity to lend their support for this program.
