INDIANAPOLIS – The front seven was the focus for the Colts in Round Four.
Inside linebacker Antonio Morrison was the Colts' choice at No. 125 overall, the pick they acquired from Green Bay on Friday.
Morrison joins fellow fourth-round pick DT-Hassan Ridgeway in the front seven of a defense the Colts are looking to build with some more youth.
Getting To Know Antonio Morrison-Why Morrison?
Productive, tough and intense. Those are the frequent terms when talking about the 6-1 and 229-pound Morrison. Starting at least four games in each of his four seasons at Florida, Morrison had back-to-back 100-tackle campaigns to end his career in Gainesville. With seasons of 103 and 101 tackles, Morrison became the first Florida player to accomplish that since 1992-93. With Jerrell Freeman no longer in Indy and D'Qwell Jackson turning 33 years old this fall, inside linebacker was a need.-Colts Visit
Of the eight visits Morrison took during the draft process, he made it clear the Colts were the one he felt the strongest connection. The first-team All-SEC selection will now be staying in the Midwest. Morrison is a native of Bellwood, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.-Injury Recovery
Morrison planned to leave Florida following his junior season, but a devastating knee injury in a 2014 bowl game squelched any of those plans. Morrison rehabbed well ahead of schedule and started all 14 games for Florida last year, leading the team with 103 tackles. Morrison said on Saturday he expects to be full go for the team's rookie minicamp next week.
