Colts TE Dallas Clark Blog-January 1

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

It was an honor this week being named to my first Pro Bowl, and to make it with five other guys here makes it even better. I'm sure it will be something later that I can look back on, but right now it's really hard to enjoy and focus in on because we're approaching such an important time of the season for this team. As we were all kind of joking this week, as much of an honor it would be to play in the game, we're all hoping we're not able to because we hope to be playing the following Sunday in Miami in the Super Bowl. That's the goal, and that's what we are continuing to work for.

It is always nice to be recognized, but I think what makes you appreciate it more is because the Pro Bowl team is voted on by the coaches, players and fans. To get the respect from your opponents, and I know all of our guys had great support from the fans, it really means a lot. A lot of people asked this week if I ever thought I would make the Pro Bowl. First, I knew with Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez in the AFC, I shouldn't get my hopes up. Both of those guys are amazing, and I should probably thank Gonzalez for going to the NFC. And besides that, it was never a primary goal of mine. I never would sit down prior to a season and figure out how I could make the Pro Bowl. I just focused on getting better each year, trying to make myself better and my team better. So that's what makes me appreciate it, is all the hard work and all the people that have helped me get to this point in my career.

Another great thing about the New Year coming in is all of the great college bowl games. I'll have a chance to watch some today, but I'm really looking forward to Iowa playing in the Orange Bowl next Tuesday night against Georgia Tech. We went to the Orange Bowl my final season at Iowa, and there were some good memories, but there were some not-so-good memories, too. We played a stacked USC team with Carson Palmer and Troy Polamalu and Justin Fargas and Mike Williams and on and on. Needless to say, the game didn't turn out how we wanted, but I hope the Hawkeyes are able to get it done next week. They've had such a great season.

I will keep updating you every couple of weeks here throughout the season. GO COLTS!
