Club Places DBs-Jackson, Sanders on IR; Signs TE-Santi,
DE-Thomas
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts have placed safety Bob Sanders on injured reserve with the left elbow injury he sustained last Sunday against San Francisco, and the Colts have signed TE-Tom Santi, the club announced today.
Sanders will undergo surgery for a torn biceps and will miss the rest of the season.
Santi appeared in six games with the club last season, and he has spent time this year on the practice squad. He has 10 career receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown.
The Colts announced earlier Friday that the team signed veteran free agent defensive end Josh Thomas after placing defensive back Marlin Jackson on injured reserve.
Jackson suffered the left knee injury during a non-contact drill early in Wednesday's practice. He is out for the remainder of the season.
Thomas played 2004-08 with the club, starting 12 of 68 appearances. He totaled 172 tackles and six sacks. He had a brief stint with the club this past training camp.
Also, the club announced wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery yesterday to clean out loose particles. Gonzalez suffered a recent setback in practice that led to Thursday's procedure. A timetable for his return is not determined.
